This prayer is just as pertinent today as it was when King David initially prayed it. Many of the people in Congress who make decisions affecting this country, and you and me are deluded from the truth of God’s Word:
“3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 New International Version
Today there is unrighteousness in our nation, and in the two primary political parties of our nation which nominate candidates for the President of the United States. Prior to the nomination which is done at conventions, primary elections are held, and the winner is supposed to be the nominee from the convention.
Our forefathers knew what political and governmental abuse was. They left England and came to the United States in hopes of escaping the dominance of tyrants. They put their lives on the line to create a new country based on the equality of all people, and one that is governed by the people. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and approved by the Continental Congress.

In the last eight to ten years, we have witnessed an abuse of power. Neither party has been willing to accept the outcome of presidential elections, which is the decision of the people through the voting process.
From 2016 to 2020 the Democrats used their control of Congress to fight the outcome of the 2016 election. Their time was spent working toward impeaching Donald Trump rather than working toward a better union. The ugliness of their intentions was seen daily on the news.
In January 2020 Donald Trump was not willing to accept the outcome of the 2020 race. His actions met with repulsion from the Democrats. Any citizen has a right to question the outcome of an election. After recounts and certification, the results must be accepted.
Both parties have expressed concern over the years as to who was allowed to vote. Many have said that deceased people whose names had not been removed from the voter registration list voted. People who were not citizens also voted. The States must ensure that voter registration lists are correct and have a method of checking the legal right a person has to vote at the time of voting.
I do not believe that the Democrats acted in good faith in allowing Joe Biden to be put forth as a presidential candidate in the primary elections. They should have stepped forth and said he was not capable of another term and had someone else’s name on the primary ballot. If they act acted honorably the situation facing the Democrats today would have been prevented. Instead, they allowed his name to be on the ballot, and voters acting in good faith voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden. What they are now doing nullifies those votes, and basically says the citizens voice does not matter. This is not how democratic republics are supposed to work. Chuck Schumer stated, yesterday July 23, 2024, “Now the process has played out from grass roots bottom up. We are here to throw our support behind Kamala Harris.” My first question is what grass roots support? Then when did this support begin? Is this a lie to make what the Democrats are doing sound good?
Our country is in a bad way. We need truthfulness and transparency to have this country function as our forefathers envisioned. Citizens today do not want to end up like our forefathers having to leave a motherland, start a new nation. We do not want a dictatorship. Our country and its government must secure the majority vote from its citizens to maintain its legitimacy. Abraham Lincoln said that the "government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the Earth."
Would you want to live in Russia, China, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, or in many other countries where the people have no voice? We are blessed to live in the United States of America. We must make sure our voice and votes are not obliterated.
